Arcadia: Musical Journey Across The United States
About this show
Introduction
In this episode of Arcadia on Future Radio 96.9 FM, Dominik leads a musical journey across the United States through songs about various locations. Key moments include a discussion on the history of the Hotel Pennsylvania, an explanation of the Buffalo Nickel coin, and Dominik's admission of confusing the geography of Colorado and Kansas.
Dominik covers the Arcadia show on Future Radio 96.9 FM, broadcasting from Norwich. The programme is a musical journey across the United States, featuring songs about various locations. Dominik selects Ryan Adams' 'Dear Chicago' to avoid obvious choices and Rudy Linka's 'California' for its jazzy replication of Joni Mitchell. He includes a live recording of Johnny Cash's 'Big River' from San Quentin jail and a recording of Mississippi barge sounding calls by Joe Shores. During the broadcast, Dominik humorously admits to geographical blunders, such as confusing Colorado with Kansas, and corrects his understanding of a lineman's profession. He also mentions upcoming appearances on the 'Platform' show with Lydia Moore and 'Community Chest' with Tim McWilliam.

But it's Colorado. I jumped over probably a thousand miles or so, if not more. And the other one is a lineman. Actually, don't work on the the railroad, but rather on the electrical lines. And that's what the song was inspired by.
Of this place called Norwich, in the east of England, as you probably know, when if you're listening on the air, and if you're listening on the internet, well, you may not even realize that that's that's where we are, as far away from Oklahoma as possible.
A very different time. So, this is not just a song. This is only about a minute of somebody talking about what it's like to work on a barge and what kind of music and what kinds of rhythms will get you through that sort of work and make it easier on you.
