About this feature

In this episode of Community Chest, Dominik interviews Padmadaka about Parinirvana Day and the nature of Buddhism as a religion and philosophy. The conversation explores the Four Noble Truths regarding suffering and desire, and details the residential retreats and classes offered by the Norwich Buddhist Centre on Bank Street.

Dominik interviews Padmadaka for the Community Chest programme. Padmadaka explains that Parinirvana Day is a Buddhist festival celebrating the death of the Buddha, a historical human from India who lived two and a half thousand years ago. The discussion covers the nature of Buddhism as both a religion and philosophy without a creator God, the Four Noble Truths, and the activities of the Norwich Buddhist Centre on Bank Street, which provides residential retreats, drop-in classes, and six-week courses. Dominik plays Arthur Conley and suggests Tom Waits is the best music to follow a discussion on suffering and noble truths.
